Ichabod and Mr. Toad’s Significance

Disney The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

For me, the most significant aspect of Ichabod and Mr. Toad is that the package films are finally finished (of which I’m not a big fan generally, though the last two I’ve quite enjoyed). The two segments were split off and weren’t really associated with each other for decades until they were finally reunited on laserdisc. When it was released on VHS, it was the last installment in the Masterpiece Collection. Ironically, it was rereleased the following year on DVD as part of the Gold Collection.

On a side note, it won a 1950 Golden Globe for Outstanding Use of Color.
